Asbestos recycling - Asbestos protective clothing
Why is it so important that your coverall has high barrier particle performance ?
Particles or fibres that penetrate a coverall and reach the wearer’s skin can attach to the wearer’s skin and hair and be difficult to remove by showering. With time, these particles are shed with the skin and can subsequently be inhaled. To minimise this possibility of secondary inhalation, protective garment specifiers should select coveralls giving the highest possible asbestos fibre hold-out.
TYVEK® offers an excellent barrier to fibres > 1µm and is a good barrier to even smaller sized fibres.
The use of TYVEK® garments is recommended when removing asbestos or performing maintenance or monitoring work in areas where asbestos is likely to be present.
TYVEK® garments are also recommended for people exposed to mineral and glass fibres in industrial manufacturing applications.
For enhanced protection, DuPont Personal Protection experts recommend TYVEK® Classic Plus garments with welded or over-taped seams.
When selecting a coverall, look for the particle barrier performance data of the whole suit – not just the fabric !
Following garments could be used for this application* :
